Jorja Smith blessed the DC area with her beautiful set on Tuesday night to a sold-out crowd at The Fillmore Silver Spring. When I left the photo pit and bumped into a fellow photographer, we both felt that we were gazing at a goddess the entire time. Jorja was exceptionally amazing that night.
This summer, Jorja released Lost & Found, her second album, and earlier this very week, she was nominated for her first Grammy for Best New Artist. I can imagine that every show since her nomination has been special — and to share the experience with the fans even better.
The audience at The Fillmore Silver Spring was ready for her. Jorja played her entire album to the crowd, who were very eager to sing every word. The stage was set perfectly for her with drapes all around and lamps that fluctuated throughout her set. She grabbed everyone’s attention from the start when her soft voice greeted the crowd.

Starting off with “Lost & Found,” “Teenage Fantasy,” and “February 3rd,” Jorja floated on the stage. Her R&B, pop, and soul style of music came so effortlessly, and she made sure to make eye-contact with the front row. Her band enhanced the whole mood and shined with Jorja on stage, especially during “On Your Own.” She commanded the stage with her presence — and her voice is the cherry on top of a remarkable experience. She ended the show in her encore with “On My Mind.”
I highly recommend attending a Jorja Smith concert in the future, because headphones does not do her justice. The live experience is 10 times better. You can catch her up until Dec. 19 in Toronto, Canada.
