What a concert! In a recent performance that lasted roughly three hours, Steve Hackett couldn’t have sounded better at the Warner Theatre.
Demonstrating his technical prowess and commanding center stage while connecting with the audience, Steve also allowed other band members to share the limelight and show their mastery of the material at DC’s Warner Theatre on April 13.
Lead singer Nad Sylvan was in top form bringing his unique voice and stage presence conjuring up memories of the Gabriel- and Collins-era of prog-rock Genesis yet adding his distinctive and welcomed interpretations to the material.
Of course, Steve and company were in DC to perform the 1977 Genesis live album Seconds Out in full in addition to other Genesis classics and standouts from Steve’s latest album, Surrender of Silence.
Watch an official video of Steve Hackett, Nad Sylvan, and company performing “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” live in Liverpool in 2016 on YouTube:
All the members added their individual gifts to the music, bringing some carefully placed new passage interpretations. The stage lighting effortlessly complemented the intricate music with a nod to the legendary Genesis light shows from back in the day. It is a must-see for fans of ’70s-era Genesis and Steve’s prolific solo career.
