Yves Tumor To Spite or Not to Spite tour: A True Super Star
In a recent concert at Echostage in DC, Yves Tumor’s live performance was nothing short of a religious experience. Speaking little to no words to the crowd aside from humble “thank yous,” Yves captivated the audience and had us all mesmerized with their stage presence and clear passion of performing.
Although we were robbed of the highly requested, famously loved “Super Stars” at Echostage on May 4, the setlist consisted of their best works, from their latest album, Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds), and it took us back to their 2021 EP The Asymptotical World. It was a beautiful mix of old and new material, with Tumor playing songs from all three recent albums.
Highlights included “Gospel for a New Century,” “Licking an Orchid,” and “Kerosene!” and Yves’ incredible bassist, Gina Ramirez, captivated us all with her stunning vocals during “Lovely Sewer”.
The entire band had phenomenal chemistry, feeding off each other’s energy all night and truly giving rockstar energy.
They joined me and the other photographers in the photo pit towards the end of the show, playfully interacting with me and my camera.
Clusters of mosh pits within the crowd were consistent but erupted during their final, beloved song, “Kerosene!”, the perfect ending to a perfect night.

This concert was an unforgettable experience. It was everything you’d expect an Yves Tumor show to be like — filled with magnetic energy, great music, devoted (and incredibly stylish) fans — a night of music, art, and performance that has ranked high on my list of best live shows. Tumor is a true artist, and their live show is a testament to their talent and unique vision. This is a show you cannot miss.
