Music lovers flocked to Pearl Street Warehouse recently as Project Hera presented its Women Who Rock: A Tribute to the ’90s music festival. Thirty-one female artists from the DC area contributed their talents to the event which raised funds for Project Hera, a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting, celebrating, and empowering women and girls in music.

Local “punk pixie” Mundy Spears sings her personal style of new wave soul at during the RAW Artists Holiday RAWK DC Showcase at the Howard Theatre on Wednesday, Dec. 12. While we don’t have the full line-up of local artists on hand, Mundy always delivers an engaging show herself, and Parklife DC highly recommends you check her out.

Loi Loi headlined a birthday show in honor of frontwoman Kristie Di Lascio at Rock and Roll Hotel Saturday. An enthusiastic crowd turned up for Loi Loi, Mundy, Nihiloceros, and Time Is Fire! We arrived in time to surf some new wave melodies with Loi Loi and Mundy, both buoyed by high spirits and awash in cool tunes.

Synthpop outfit Loi Loi perform at Rock and Roll Hotel on Saturday, April 28, and the band is bringing along a lot of friends to celebrate the birthday of frontwoman Kristie Di Lascio on a bill that includes Mundy, Nihiloceros, and Time Is Fire.

Vocalist Mundy Spears is a new wave revelation, packing a petite punch as frontwoman for a band bearing her name and backing the glam punk rocker with euphonious old-school funk.
Mundy was first up on a winning bill at DC9 on Saturday to open surf rockers High Waisted — and wow did she start the evening off right!
