Blitzen Trapper, the five piece from Portland, Oregon, has been going strong for well over 15 years now, but it’s their 2008 album, Furr, where most fans got their start with its experimental Americana and vivid lyrical imagery. Blizten Trapper celebrated the 10th anniversary of that album at Rock and Roll Hotel on Friday.

In addition to releasing his own solo albums, beginning with Duet for Guitars in 1999, M. hangs out with Zooey Deschanel in She & Him and joins up with folk-rock supergroup Monsters of Folk. Horse Feathers released Appreciation, their sixth full-length album, via Kill Rock Stars on May 4. The band are on tour with a stop at Union Stage on Wednesday, June 6.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra played at the 9:30 Club on Friday in support of their new album, Sex + Food, their fourth record released in April via Jagjaguwar. The crowd was super pumped to see UMO, and that’s always a good indicator that the show will be a good one.

Fun was the word of the day as The Decemberists delivered it to a packed house at The Anthem with a Saturday stop on their Your Girl/Your Ghost World Tour. Playing songs old and new, the indie rock mainstays treated the crowd to an evening of their quirky charms, complete with obscure historical references, audience participation, and a giant floating whale.

The Decemberists released I’ll Be Your Girl, their eighth studio album, on March 16 via Capitol Records. The chamber pop ensemble are now on their Your Girl/Your Ghost 2018 Tour, and they will perform in DC at The Anthem on Saturday, April 21.
