Charlie Hilton of Blouse released a solo album, Palana, in January via Captured Tracks. She’s been on tour to support the album, opening for Jack Tatum and Wild Nothing as Wild Nothing perform around the United States in support of their third album.
On the tour, Charlie visited the Black Cat on Wednesday as the Wild Nothing opener to perform her new songs. The solo album was produced by her Blouse bandmate Jacob Portrait, and Charlie told me Wednesday that Blouse would soon return for a third album of their own. Palana is a pleasing album that finds Charlie in similar dreamy, gazey territory as Blouse but with an even bigger emphasis on Charlie’s singing.
I first caught Blouse when they visited the Black Cat two years ago in support of their second album, and I look forward to seeing them again when they undoubtedly return with the new effort. Hopefully, that will happen soon but I hear Jacob has been in New York lately while Charlie has remained in Portland.

While we don’t have a full review of Charlie’s show, I’m happy to present a few pictures of her show here in Snapshots. Charlie has a few more tour dates with Wild Nothing, including tonight, May 16, in Austin, ending May 20 in Los Angeles. Go to the show early and catch her performance!
So here are some pictures of Charlie performing at the Black Cat on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
