Ticket Giveaway: The Mountain Goats @ 9:30 Club, 11/6/17

THE MOUNTAIN GOATS

Folk quartet The Mountain Goats released Goths, their 16th studio album, in May via Merge Records, and they are touring in the wake of that release. They perform at 9:30 Club on two upcoming nights — Monday, Nov. 6, and Tuesday, Nov. 7. You can win tickets to see The Mountain Goats on the first of those nights with Parklife DC.

Songwriter John Darnielle turned to the outsider pop music he loved as a kid for inspiration in writing the album Goths. Lyrically, it makes sly references to Robert Smith of The Cure, Siouxsie Sioux, and Andrew Eldritch of Sisters of Mercy.

Watch The Mountain Goats perform “Andrew Eldritch Is Moving Back to Leeds” live for WFUV Public Radio on June 22, 2017:

  1. This is awesome! My favorite song by The Mountain Goats is a toss up between Maize Stalk Drinking Blood and Jaipur. Gotta love those good ol’ lo-fi years.

  2. I’m going to go with Get Lonely as my favorite song. I first heard it as I was going through a tough breakup and it spoke to me so much! It’s tough though to pick a fav, their entire catalog is awesome!
