Alex Crosson: musician and producer better known as Mura Masa, played a sold-out show at the 9:30 Club, last week, and it was pure energy all around. Showcasing music from his self-titled album and other singles, Mura Masa and special guest Fliss played like no other.

Alex first started out with just his instruments on stage and warming up the crowd with his presence. I was surprised and impressed with the amount of instruments Alex could play and handle at the same time. Fliss, out of nowhere, came out to sing the parts from other artists featured on the album like “Nuggets” and “1 Night”. Fliss commanded the stage and hyped the crowd up to another level with her dance moves.

Mura Masa is a bit soft-spoken, but he makes up with his style of music — and Fliss as his partner-in-crime made for a perfect combination. If I can describe Mura Masa’s style of music, it would be a mix of island-synth-pop. The good thing about Mura Masa is that you can’t pinpoint a specific genre of music — he can dabble into anything! He performed “Love$ick” and “Firefly” toward the end of the set, and it ended a perfect Friday night at the 9:30 Club.
