[Editor’s Note: We’ve learned the Loi Loi album release has been pushed back to 2019! We’ve updated this post accordingly.]
DC’s own hometown synthpop group Loi Loi will celebrate the release of a new single at Union Stage on Saturday, Nov. 10, opening Bright Light Bright Light.
Loi Loi will release Me: Dystopia in early 2019 via Blight Records. Meanwhile, the gropu will drop lead single “Company Girl” on Saturday to herald things to come.
In 2017, Loi Loi published an initial EP, Vivi La Vulva, which features concert favorites like “1985,” “Responsabilidades,” and “Trying to Remember.” While the lineup of Loi Loi continues to rotate since that time, frontwoman Kristie Di Lascio infuses the music with energy and presence.

In a review earlier this year, Parklife DC’s Mark Caicedo said, “DC-based Loi Loi brings an international flair to their music, singing in both Spanish and English and giving one the feeling of having stumbled into a ’90s-era Miami danceclub.” He added, “‘Chica Retorcida’ (Twisted Girl) quickly established Loi Loi’s international bonafides. The set continued with ‘Responsabilidades,’ its heavy bass, insistent beat and Cindy Wilson-like vocals giving the song a Spanish B-52s feel.”
