Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady formed blues band Hot Tuna in 1969, and they are still going strong! At the 2016 Grammy Awards, Jorma and Jack received Lifetime Achievement Awards, and the band released an album as recently as 2011 with Steady as She Goes.
Hot Tuna performs an acoustic evening at City Winery on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Jorma and Jack started Hot Tuna as a side project during their days with Jefferson Airplane, and the boyhood friends have constantly returned to the project where they now stand as the elder statesmen of psychedelic blues. The gents actually played together as teens in the DC metro area before they left for San Francisco and bigger things with Jefferson Airplane.
