Psych quartet Warpaint have embarked on a tour to open for MGMT, and they have picked up some headlining shows along the way. And so, Warpaint performs at the Black Cat on Sunday, May 19.
Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa, are known for their unique brand of intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms combining to create a gorgeous unique sound — and it’s certainly a psychedelic sound that borders on shoegaze. Some have rather appropriately called it “dream rock.”
Although Warpaint haven’t released any new music since their 2016 album Heads Up, the band celebrated its 15th anniversary with shows in Los Angeles back in February. Around that time, Jenny Lee told Apple Music Beats 1 that Warpaint was working on a new record, potentially for release in 2020, as reported by The Line of Best Fit.

Warpaint’s debut album The Fool was named one of the 50 Best Albums of the Decade by NME; their sophomore album Warpaint debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Alternative Album Chart as well as the UK Album Chart, while also being named one of the albums of the year in publications such as The Chicago Tribune, LA Magazine, Time Out, NME, and American Songwriter. Their latest full-length album Heads Up enjoyed a Top 40 debut on the Billboard Current Albums Chart and it ranked #13 on the UK Album Chart.
Make your plans to catch up with Warpaint on this unique opportunity to catch them off the album cycle.
