On Sept. 20, Zac Brown Band releases The Owl, the band’s sixth studio album. Before that, however, Zac Brown and company have a whole lot of touring to do, and they dropped by Jiffy Lube Live recently to play new songs and old favorites on The Owl Tour. Jules McNamara photographed the show!
“With The Owl Tour, our fans can expect some new and unexpected sounds woven into the signature Zac Brown Band live music experience,” Zac said when announcing the tour earlier this year. “The owl holds special meaning for us, and we look forward to sharing this with everyone.”
Both The Owl Tour and forthcoming album draw inspiration from the mythology and mystery surrounding the Great Horned Owl that can see perfectly in the night, serving as a guide when we need sight in even the darkest of moments, the band said in a press release.
Prior to starting the tour, Zac Brown Band released, “Someone I Used to Know,” the first single from the new album.

At Jiffy Lube Live on Aug. 25, Zac Brown Band played the single to start the second set of a generous show. They played songs from the forthcoming album and tipped their hats to their previous five records, favoring You Get What You Give with four selections and nodding to The Foundation with only one song.
Zac Brown Band began the show with “Homegrown” from 2015’s Jekyll + Hyde but ended it in a stream of cover tunes, which were crowdpleasers indeed. The 27-song show’s encore consisted of a medley of “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits and “Hot for Teacher” by Van Halen along with “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard and “Bulls on Parade” by Rage Against the Machine. Way to cover some ground, Zac!
