Chicago stoner rockers Twin Peaks will grace our nation’s capital with their headlining event at Black Cat on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
I first saw Twin Peaks when they opened for Portugal the Man at The Anthem in February 2018. Donning a completely unassuming look, and with a natural and easy stage presence, this goofy Northwestern fivesome effortlessly won the audience over, thanks to the band’s effective use of melodic hooks, twangy guitar runs, and choral harmonies throughout their deliberately low-stakes songs.
Now, over a year and a half later, and on the heels of a newly released album, Twin Peaks returns triumphantly to DC, in the role of headlining act this time round.
Blasting onto the Chicago music scene at around the same time as high school classmate and friend Chance the Rapper, the guys in Twin Peaks have been writing music and touring relentlessly to make themselves known to the world.
Their newest album, Lookout Low, was recorded during a respite in Wales, and was released in September via Grand Jury Music. Preceded by the catchy single, “Dance Through It” (listen below!), Lookout Low marks a more ambitious effort for Twin Peaks, with the band incorporating new musical styles and applying more creativity to their musical arrangements.

Supporting the dudes in December will be some fellow Chicagoans: singer/songwriter Lillie West, who goes by the nom de plume Lala Lala, and female power pop duo Ohmme.
