Last year, Tank and the Bangas made their major label studio debut with Green Balloon. The band quickly blew up, scoring a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The R&B group is now on tour opening for The Revivalists, and you should arrive early to see them when they perform at The Anthem on Saturday, Feb. 29.
Tank and the Bangas recently released a music video for their song “Dope Girl Magic,” taken from their latest album, Green Balloon, which continues to receive critical praise. In a review for AllMusic, Andy Kellman says front woman Tarriona “Tank” Ball creates magic that keeps R&B fresh. “No matter how high or low Ball gets, the Bangas keep it vibrant, interacting with the kind of range and fluidity possible only through years of playing together. Never locked in one groove, the players evidently value all eras of jazz, R&B, and hip-hop,” Andy wrote.

Since 2017, Tank and the Bangas has toured non-stop, selling out venues both stateside and abroad including festival appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, and more. The band was included on Rolling Stone’s list of the “10 Artists You Need to Know,” calling them, “A secular church experience, with freewheeling improvisational chops and positive vibes,” while lead singer Tank was featured in the September 2019 issue of Vogue and the November 2019 issue of Essence.
