Nominations for the 2021 Wammie Awards are now live. Residents of the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area can nominate their favorite local musicians and artists, including themselves, for a coveted Wammie.

With categories spanning 24 music genres, including Go-Go, Acapella, Pop, Gospel/Inspirational, and more, and 6 general interest categories ranging from Best Music Studio to Educator Award, and Advocacy Award to Best Music Venue, the Wammies promises to be more exciting than ever.

“In a time when the music industry has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wammie Awards are taking on a new meaning this year. Through the struggle and hardship of 2020, the DMV area’s musicians and artists have continued to create incredible music and we are proud and humbled to be able to recognize them for their achievements,” said Jeffery Tribble, Jr., Executive Director of The MusicianShip.

Winners will be revealed during the event’s second virtual awards show in March 2021. More details will be revealed soon.

Wammie Awards programming is supported by The MusicianShip, a D.C.-based nonprofit that is focused on changing lives with music. Proceeds from the Wammie Awards help support The MusicianShip’s free-of-charge music programs that serve over 1600 youth and continues to be a resource for local D.C. artists and musicians. In addition to the Wammie Awards, The MusicianShip is the home of the DC Funk Parade and The Washington Youth Choir.
