In our humble opinion, DC-based dreampop duo GLOSSER, composed of Riley Fanning and Corbin Sheehan, are one of DC’s best local indie bands!
Glosser recently released a new EP, Angel Dust, and they present an EP release show at DC9 on Friday, Jan. 31, with openers Close and Flo Petite.
GLOSSER dives further into the depths of a murky, pop tinged world on their new EP Angel Dust. The pairs’ most fervent leanings toward melancholic, nostalgia laden pop shine through on the lead single Angel Dust — a dancy whirlwind of sound that thinly veils a creeping, inescapable darkness. The new collection of songs add to the duo’s depth of genre once again, incorporating some grit in between the ever expanding dreamscapes that buoy us through the GLOSSER universe.

Forged by musical intimacy of two in Washington D.C., GLOSSER has developed a pop sound that stands on the shoulders of greats. The pair (led by Fanning’s voice and mind), sought to condense their lighter-than-air sound into something worthy of the dance floor. Inspired by the likes of Phantogram, Lorde, and Beach House, their music combines worlds and creates a dreamscape injected with visceral truth.
After their first release (2021’s self-titled EP), Riley Fanning and Corbin Sheehan wanted to do something different. They wrote together, and although doing so with no exact direction, Fanning built her craft as a singer/songwriter. Forming in DC (with a quick detour to a Baltimore apartment basement), GLOSSER wrote their debut record. They then traveled to Philadelphia where they would record and fully realize 2023’s album DOWNER.
With DOWNER, GLOSSER offered a new challenge and reward – a more immediately gratifying pop experience that redefines who they are and what they’re capable of. To celebrate the one year anniversary of their first album, GLOSSER released a deluxe edition of DOWNER with If This Then Records in 2024, featuring a remix by Half Waif collaborater Zubin Hensler, a new version of their song “The Artist” with indie pop up-&-comer Sophie Coran, and a new take on their track “Disco Girls” remixed by Eric Hudson of post-rock/emo indie rock band Foxing.
