The evolution of Riki is as dynamic as it is undeniable; Riki’s music has steadily flowered with finesse, feeling, and vision.

In 2020, Riki released her widely acclaimed self-titled debut for Dais Records, reimagining moody new wave synthetics across a vibrant palette of melodic melancholia, prompting a string of rapturously received tours and festival appearances.

Riki unveiled her sophomore LP, Gold, in 2021 to mark another tier in her art-pop ascension. Produced by Telefon Tel Aviv’s Joshua Eustis, and echoing eclectic ’80s touchstones from Saâda Bonaire to Strawberry Switchblade and Bryan Ferry to Bananarama, Gold ultimately transcends its influences, fusing private heartbreak with anthemic emotion in swooning, singular fashion. “Marigold” was the lead single from the album: an idealized look at otherness becoming wholeness via dialogue between lovers.

Los Angeles-based Riki is a visual artist and musician who, before founding her solo endeavor in 2017, was active in the deathrock/anarcho-punk scenes of the California Bay Area. (She was formerly a member of Crimson Scarlet.) She characterizes her lyrical muse as “very much what’s going on in my life, things I wanted to say but didn’t have the platform.”
