Over the past four decades — give or take a decade break — the illustrious and critically acclaimed Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) have sold over 40 million records worldwide, establishing them as electronic synthesiser pioneers and one of Britain’s best-loved pop groups.
OMD released Bauhaus Staircase, their 14th studio album, in 2023. They’ve been touring the world since then, and they finally return to the USA, starting with a set at the Cruel World Festival on May 17. The band performs live on Thursday, May 22, and Friday, May 23, for two dates at the Lincoln Theatre in DC.
Following the celebration of their 40th anniversary, OMD released Bauhaus Staircase (via White Noise through The Orchard). The record is regarded as OMD’s most explicitly political record and the crowning achievement of their desire to be both Stockhausen and Abba. The band originally plotted a USA tour for fall 2024, but it was delayed until now.
In an exclusive statement, OMD frontman Andy McCluskey told Parklife:
“Regarding the shows in DC, we’re just happy that we could come back after the postponement last year and play again in the DC area. Great that we’ve been able to do two shows… We must be doing something right as the demand keeps growing for us in America. The concert will be a good balance of all of our hits and tracks from the Bauhaus Staircase album, which have all been very well received by live audiences.”
