I recently tried to describe Peaches to someone who had never heard of her before. After my initial thought of, “Where have you been for the last 25 years?” I settled on: raunchy, feminist, queer, political, sex-positive, body-positive, age-positive, and electroclash.
Although the mainstream electroclash movement was short-lived, Peaches herself has endured far beyond any trend or TV appearance.
A Peaches live show is nothing short of spectacular. Countless costume changes, a modular riser system, and lights on wheels made the production look like a massive stadium blowout. But crowd-walking, performing from the back of the room, and connecting directly with fans made it feel like an underground DIY punk show. That dichotomy perfectly encapsulates who Peaches is as an artist.
While dancing vulvas, hairy nipples, and a giant inflatable colon are hilariously entertaining, they also point toward a deeper truth and authenticity in everything Peaches does. None of the vulgarity feels sensationalized or included merely for shock value. It is real, celebratory, and vital. It is about being human.
At Baltimore Soundstage on Sept. 22, that spirit was echoed in a bodysuit emblazoned with “TRANS RIGHTS NOW,” which Peaches later stripped away to reveal the words “GAY FOR PALESTINE.”

Lest any of this come across as a novelty act, Peaches also unleashed her considerable vocal prowess, moving effortlessly from filthy rap to sweet melodies without missing a note or a beat, all while climbing, head-banging, and dancing with astonishing energy.
The setlist reached across her entire catalog, from her 2000 debut, The Teaches of Peaches, to this year’s No Lube So Rude, before ending with a lovely rendition of the Barbra Streisand classic “People.”
By then, everyone in the room felt like one of Peaches’ people.
