A sold-out audience at The Anthem recently swooned over indie-pop star Faye Webster, who left concertgoers with a sweet indie-folk taste in their mouths.

Released through Secretly Canadian, Underdressed at the Symphony is Webster’s fifth studio album, and the album which she is currently promoting on tour. While Faye has gone on smaller tours in previous years, her 2024 tour has brought her to some of her biggest solo venues yet, and with multiple sold-out gigs across her tour route, her recent growth and success speaks for itself.

Webster began her career at only 16 years old after releasing her first album, Run and Tell. After dropping out of college, she made a deal with her parents that if she wasn’t successful as a musician within a year, she would go back to school. Quickly after leaving school, she signed with Awful Records, establishing herself in the music world. Within the same year, she accompanied Sean Rowe on tour, and released her second album.

Since then, Webster has gone on to be a tour opener for popular alternative/indie band, Haim, released three additional albums, and even photograph rappers such as Lil Yachty and Shelley FKA DRAM.

With peaceful lighting and her live band, Webster brought her smooth music to life in DC on July 24 and fulfilled all my expectations for her live performance skills. You could feel the exuberant energy in the venue as fans embraced the R&B and soft rock-fused music.

Faye played for a bit over an hour and her set featured songs primarily from her latest album, but she made sure to include a few from her earlier albums, I Know I’m Funny haha and Atlanta Millionairs Club, as well. Her setlist went as follows:

  1. But Not Kiss
  2. Wanna Quit All the Time
  3. Thinking About You
  4. Right Side of My Neck
  5. Better Distractions
  6. Kind of
  7. Cheers
  8. A Dream With a Baseball Player
  9. Tttttime
  10. Lego Ring
  11. Jonny
  12. Lifetime
  13. In a Good Way
  14. He Loves Me Yeah!
  15. Feeling Good Today
  16. Kingston

If soft-pop/indie music is your style, you absolutely have to check out Faye’s music. With her constantly growing popularity, I have no doubt she’ll become a staple in the indie genre.
