A little over a year ago, The National released Sleep Well Beast, the band’s seventh studio album, via 4AD. They’ve been touring incessantly since, and they are not quite done! The National play a big show at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Friday, Sept. 28.

Wussy released What Heaven Is Like, the band’s seventh studio album, via Shake It! in May, and they soon will embark on a short tour that includes a stop at Black Cat on Saturday, July 14.

Midwestern rock band Red Wanting Blue delivered a gritty, electrified, performance at City Winery recently. The Columbus, Ohio-based group is wrapping up an eight-week tour of the United States in support of its new studio album, The Wanting, which released in April via Blue Élan Records.

Midwestern rockers Red Wanting Blue released The Wanting, their 11th studio album, via Blue Elan Records on April 27. The gents are on tour, and they perform locally at City Winery on Tuesday, June 19.

Normally a bigger band, Doc Robinson arrived as a duo from Columbus, Ohio, at DC9 and played a stripped down accoustic show. They played a fantastic set on Tuesday.

Columbus indie pop group Doc Robinson will make a stop at DC9 Nightclub on Sept. 19. The stop comes almost exactly two months after the release of their debut full-length album, titled Deep End, which they are currently supporting on their US tour.

Bob Pollard at this point could rest soundly on his impressive laurels — 25 Guided by Voices albums as of this writing, spanning nearly 35 years and 100 albums in total for Pollard himself. But as Bob pointed out very clearly at the Ottobar in Baltimore Thursday night, he’s not about to just play the hits! Teamed with Kevin March (drums), Bobby Bare, Jr. (guitar), Mark Shue (bass), and Doug Gillard (guitar), and a sizable cooler filled with Miller Light and tequila, the band played a sweaty and fun set to this sold-out crowd.

The sixth edition of the Firefly Music Festival delivered a diverse line-up over four days of musical performances June 15-18, 2017. Threatened rains stayed away, and artists as different as 21 Pilots, Bob Dylan, and Muse came to stay. An estimated 90,000 people descended on The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware to watch more than 125 acts.
