In a sold-out benefit for Planned Parenthood Monday, Portland metal duo The Body dropped by the Black Cat backstage to entertain alongside a few experimental DC bands.
The Body have most recently published No One Deserves Happiness, their fifth studio album, in 2016 via Thrill Jockey.
Chip King (guitars, vocals) and Lee Buford (drums, samples) have been particularly prolific since 2010. Last year, they immediately followed up their full-length with a collaborative EP with Full of Hell titled One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache.
The Body were joined by Mt. Ranier, Radiator Greys, and Technophobia for the Planned Parenthood benefit, where a portion of the proceeds from the door went to the women’s health organization. The show was produced by Baltimore outfit Ripping Headaches.
