Sol Roots and his band gave a hot performance recently at The Soundry in Columbia, Maryland, putting in a 45-miute opening set before New Orleans-great Jon Cleary took the stage.
The Sol Roots Band performs a mix of New Orleans funk, blues, and soul. A North Carolina transplant to the DC area, Sol is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has toured with many roots, funk, and blues legends around the world as a part of Music Maker Relief Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve the musical traditions of the South by directly supporting the musicians who made it.
Sol has shared the stage with acts such as Jon Cleary, Soulive, Dumpstaphunk,The Wood Brothers, Robert Randolph, Eric Lindell, Booker T Jones, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Shemekia Copeland, Jackie Greene, and more.
