Hailing from New Zealand, The Chills will bring their melodic global rock to Black Cat on Sunday, Feb. 14. You can win tickets to go with Parklife DC!

The Chills frontman Martin Phillipps sets high standards of musicianship, which he consideres necessary to deliver The Chills songs with essential consistent energy. The live energy of The Chills is the central reason why they are remembered fondly in all around the world.

Last year, The Chills released Snow Bound, billed as the group’s first studio album in 19 years. “The songs are definitely there, Phillipps’ wonderfully light vocals are as strong as ever, and the sound is a perfect example of how to make a record that sounds as big as a stadium while still being driven by real emotion,” said Tim Sendra of the record for AllMusic.

  1. This is not an entry, because I bought my ticket last month. New Zealand bands don’t tour that often, so don’t miss them when they do. The Clean played at the R&R Hotel 6 or 7 years ago, and The Bats played DC9 the next year. Don’t miss a chance to see The Chills while you can. Who knows, maybe the Verlaines will tour in the next few years.
