Denzel Curry kept the energy flowing, recently leading a rapping crowd through a newly retooled mixtape as album at The Fillmore Silver Spring. His smile was as infectious as his verses in a show that never slowed down for a date on his Mischievous South Tour.
Visiting The Fillmore Silver Spring on April 14, Denzel Curry put the focus on his album King of the Mischievous South, Vol. 2. He first published KOTMS II as a mixtape in 2024 and later in the year he re-released it as a fully articulated album. He opened his show with “Act a Damn Fool” and soon played “Hit the Floor” from the new album.
In the middle of the show, Denzal and his DJ left the stage and let the music build. Denzel bounded onto stage and started performing his song “Sked” from King of the Mischievous South, Vol. 2. After the first verse, he welcomed opener Kenny Mason to join him to continue the song (on which Kenny features). The two rappers had a good time sharing the stage as they hyped each other up: “Make some noise for Denzel Curry!” Kenny called, but Denzel said, “Nah, make some noise for the legendary Kenny Maaaaason!”

In one memorable moment toward the end of the set, Denzel began chanting the beginning of “Hot One” from KOTMS II. “Do you all want to make it hot in this bitch?” he said as he invited a young female fan to the stage. The thin ponytailed girl didn’t have Denzel’s incredible voice, of course, but she impressed with her lyrical hustle and she kept pace with the song as she wrapped along with Mr. Curry. Denzel was suitably impressed and gave her a friendly hug before returning her to the audience.
Denzel was happy to revisit earlier material throughout the concert. “I kinda wanna do some shit. I’m trying to take them to Day 1, where all this shit started!” Denzel exclaimed to his DJ at one point. He then performed “Zone 3” from Nostalgic 64, his 2013 debut solo album. He humorously challenged the crowd to sing along to “Walkin'” from 2022’s Melt My Eyes See Your Future.
Always in motion, Denzel was bright and playful throughout the entire show, keeping spirits high and crushing rhymes with style. He had the audience eating out of his hands for the entire performance.
Kenny Mason opened the show with songs from his two 2024 albums — Angel Eyes and 9. Kenny was a spitfire, firing words left and right. He excited the audience and kept anticipation high for Denzel Curry’s headlining set.
