Irish troubadour Glen Hansard released The Wild Willing, his fourth studio album, in April via Anti- Records. Now, Glen visits the Lincoln Theatre on Monday, June 3, to regale us with song and story.
Recently, Glen released a video for the track “Brother’s Keeper.” He said of the song, ““This song is set in autumn when the season is turning, the air is fragrant, and the lowering sun makes the shadows long. The swallows are gone, the brambles grown sweet, and the birds are fattening up for winter. It’s my October song, my favourite month in Ireland. Walking the back road in the early evening, preparing for wintering out.”
“All a song wants is to be heard,” Glen said. “I hope something in this music can be of use to you. I know it has been of great use to me to make it. Beauty is in the ear of the behearer.”

In a review for AllMusic, Mark Deming said Glen reveals greater vision and intelligence on The Wild Willing than in his previous efforts.
“This Wild Willing was primarily written during a four-week working holiday in Paris, and Hansard received input and inspiration from a wide variety of fellow artists, running the gamut from Irish traditional folk instrumentalists to experimental electronic musicians. Hansard merged his subdued but passionate melodies and lyrics with the many musical favors of his collaborators and has given us an album that pushes him forward as a recording artist,” Mark wrote.
