Indie pop duo Matt and Kim recently brought big energy to the small room at The Atlantis for an entry in the venue’s run of major acts headlining the opening months of the 450-capacity music venue.

During their recent set at the 9:30 Club, the Old 97’s played, quite appropriately, “Doing This Longer Than You’ve Been Alive.” It’s a nod to the band’s longevity: This was the band’s 30th anniversary tour. The song is addressed to lead singer and lyricist Rhett Miller’s kids, who have been born since he started playing with the Old 97’s.
Remarkably, as long as they’ve been around, their lineup has been stable, with Miller joined by Murray Hammond on bass, Ken Bethea on lead guitar, and Philip Peeples on the drums.

On only his second night of the BEN tour, Macklemore, perhaps best know for his party hits “Thrift Shop,” “Can’t Hold Us,” and “Downtown,” recently brought a sold-out crowd of 6,000 people to The Anthem for a performance full of life, dancing, water guns, and good vibes.
A native of the small mill town of Old Town, Maine, Patty Griffin has lived in Austin for several decades. This past summer, she decided to take time off and stay home to write songs. But Austin was hit with a heat dome, and Patty found herself oppressed by the heat, stuck inside, and unable to be productive, instead watching a lot of TV.
Somewhat surprisingly at her recent show at The Birchmere, Patty mentioned she had been watching a lot of shows about UFOs. When she mentioned this, the audience tensed up a bit, afraid that Patty, like so many artists, had gone off the deep end into conspiracy theories and such wackiness, but she assured the crowd that she hadn’t.
Claud Mintz, is just like me and and rest of Generation Z… minus their impressive resume of artists they’ve opened for, holding the inaugural spot on Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records label, and a music video with actor and, as they call him, “America’s sweetheart, Paul Rudd.”
In more ways than not, Claud is a relatable 24 year old who grew up with the internet in America. They wear friendship bracelets on stage, the same kind that their audiences wear on their own wrists, and did so in their recent appearance at Union Stage. They interact with fans on social media, managed a Jonas Brothers fan account before they became famous themself, and made music with friends in college, including their friend Claire, also known as Clairo. They even make Tik Toks, too, though their content may differ from the average person in their mid-twenties. This includes posting videos with friend Jack Antonoff of Bleachers and vlogs of them traveling to open for Boygenius and Broken Social Scene.
