DC Music Rocks, a DMV syndicated FM radio show/podcast, will present its third annual DC Music Rocks Festival at 9:30 Club on Saturday, Aug. 17, with an assortment of bands including local bands The Eli Lev Collective, More AM Than FM, Sub-Radio, Iza Flo, and Los Empresarios. Parklife DC will honor DC bands and venues with our inaugural awards program, named for our new mascot, DC’s own state bird — the Wood Thrush. Our Thrushie Awards are inspired by our mission to review live music concerts.

DC Music Rocks, a syndicated FM radio show and podcast dedicated to local music, hosted its second annual music festival at 9:30 Club recently, and a diverse lineup of bands performed, including Kid Brother, Pebble to Pearl, Fellowcraft, Maryjo Matteo, Justin Shapiro, and Allthebestkids. DC Music Rocks exists to promote music in the DMV, and the syndicated FM radio show/podcast produces the DC Music Rocks Festival, a showcase of local music, at 9:30 Club on Saturday, Aug. 18.
This year’s festival features five bands and two singer-songwriters on one big bill! Experience hip hop and funk with Allthebestkids, blues and grunge with Fellowcraft, hard rock with Black Dog Prowl, R&B and funk with Pebble to Pearl, and indie folk with Kid Brother.
And of course enjoy the work of singer-songwriters MaryJo Mattea and Justin Shapiro, both talented guitar players.

The 9:30 Club transformed Saturday into a showcase for some of the finest local bands DC has to offer. The brainchild of local DJ and musician Brian Nelson-Palmer, the first annual (one hopes) DC Music Rocks Festival presented five bands, each with distinct musical pedigrees.

Singer-songwriter Hayley Fahey and her sweet and soulful voice will play the DC Music Rocks Festival at 9:30 Club on Saturday, Sept. 2, alongside other local acts including Throwing Plates, The Split Seconds, Stone Driver, and Thaylobleu. The evening festival is an unparalleled opportunity to catch a lot of local music in one spot at the city’s top club during a long holiday weekend.
