Swedish singer Tove Stryke was conversataional and casual, and she easily chatted with the audience between songs at The Anthem recently.

“I fell in love with my best friend recently,” Tove said, matter of factly, “and I did something I never did before: I wrote her a song.” Tove then sang that song, “Show Me Love,” near the end of a short opening set for Marina during their shared concert performance in DC.

Song of the Day: “La Vita Nuova” by Christine and the Queens

Late in February, Christine and the Queens released a surprise EP, La vita nuova, which draws strength from extreme vulnerability. Produced by Christine and the Queens and Ash Workman, the EP is available now digitally on Because Music, and available to pre-order on CD and LP, due for release May 29.

La vita nuova arrives with an accompanying short film of the same name, imagined by Christine and featuring the EP’s five new songs in as many sequences.

Christine and the Queens released Chris, the band’s second studio album, via Because Music in September. Héloïse Letissier dropped by to break out some dance moves in a sold-out concert at 9:30 Club on Sunday, and Paivi shot the show.

“I don’t quite fit. It’s like Tetris, and I’m the wrong piece,” said Héloïse Letissier, known by her stage name Christine and the Queens, in her sold-out show at the 9:30 Club on Tuesday.

But that is okay by Christine and the Queens. And in fact, the musician has a mantra, tattooed on her arm: “We accept you.”
