Before Gangstagrass’s show started Friday at Hill Country BBQ, I learned that emcee R-Son is one of my people. And by one of my people, I mean that R-Son is a hardcore nerd.
Founded in 2006 by Brooklyn producer Rench, Gangstagrass combines hip hip and bluegrass into a groundbreaking sound. Gangstagrass has new music to perform, and the band will play it at Hill Country Live on Friday, Aug. 17.
At the Kingmans Island Bluegrass and Folk Festival on Saturday, I endured sun and rain, met some cool dogs, suffered for some ice cream, and most of all experienced some very good bluegrass, Americana, and blues bands on one full day.
