Stuart Goddard, who is responsible for 22 hit singles as Adam Ant, mugged, danced, and chatted his way through a lengthy show with an adoring audience at the Lincoln Theatre recently.

During the show, Adam Ant performed Friend or Foe, his debut solo album (but his fourth studio record overall), live in its entirety for the first time in DC, giving an earnest glam treatment to long-time favorites like “Goody Two Shoes,” “Desperate But Not Serious,” and “Friend or Foe.”

My favorite song by Glam Skanks is one that frontwoman Ali Cat lovingly introduces as a love song. And it certainly starts out as a traditional love song with its throwback ’50s rock ‘n roll vibe and initial cooing.

But before Ali even begins to strut across the stage, the song takes a whimsical turn for the better as she rains scorn down upon her former objet d’affection, proudly proclaiming the title “Fuck Off!” with a storm of hand gestures to emphasize the same.

Adam Ant kicks of a 35th anniversary tour for his album Kings of the Wild Frontier here in DC at the Lincoln Theatre on Monday, Jan. 23. As his opening act, he’ll be bringing along Glam Skanks, an energetic new quartet from Los Angeles. Glam Skanks recently published their first album, Glitter City, via Unison Music Group, and they have a big glam rock sound that meshes very well with Adam Ant’s musical catalog.
