Book Talk: Eddie Izzard @ Weinberg Center for the Arts [Frederick, Md.] — 2/8/18

“The show was developed to support the book, but now it seems the other way around,” remarked Eddie Izzard to a full house at Weinberg Center for the Art in Frederick, Maryland on Thursday.
Eddie was on tour to chat about his life in promotion of his autobiography, Believe Me: A Memoir of Love, Death, and Jazz Chickens, published in 2017 by Penguin Random House. But the tale of his life remains compelling with or without or book, as Eddie recounted highlights with the aid of slides and Google Earth on a spare stage.

Noel Gallagher, forever famous as one half of Oasis, has been doing terrific work with his newer band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The band released Who Built the Moon?, their third studio album, in November through Noel’s Sour Mash Records. Now on a US tour, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds perform at The Anthem in DC tonight, Feb. 12.

SZA dropped Ctrl, her debut album, via Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records last year, and she undertook her first headlining tour, which finally made it to The Fillmore Silver Spring for a sold-out show on Monday. Chris Castillo was there to photograph the action.

Last month, I reviewed a terrific live show by The Wombats at 9:30 Club. The show sold out in a heartbeat, the band were enthused, the audience went nuts—it was a good time.
But I wouldn’t even know who The Wombats were if I hadn’t first heard them at Liberation Dance Party at DC9.
