In October 2016, All Things Go Fall Classic went forward in the rain, and opener Sofi Tukker thrilled with bossa-nova driven house beats. But soon, headliner Christine and the Queens bowed out due to the rain, and the festival hit a big hole!

Never fear: Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern leapt back into action, and kept the crowd dancing with an improvised DJ/dance/performance set! Now, Sofi Tukker are returning to make DC feel good again with a show at 9:30 Club on Wednesday, April 18, which comes days after the release of their debut album, Treehouse, out April 13 via Ultra Music.

In September, Detroit producer MK released “17,” his latest single, and it has since been steadily building momentum. To date, the track has garnered more than 6.5 million streams on Spotify — and it may be set to enter the Top #20 of the UK Singles charts. At the very moment of this success, MK drops into DC to perform at U Street Music Hall on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Music Park: Cher @ MGM National Harbor — 3/23/17

Cher is a bit of a contradiction. The actress/musician is very fond of grand statements, elegant costumes, and soaring songs. But at the same time, she’s also disarmingly down to earth.

Both sides of the world’s first modern pop diva were on display over the weekend as Cher brought her Classic Cher show to MGM National Harbor for a run of six dates ending Sunday, March 26. She reprises the residency for another six dates at the end of this summer.

What can we say about Cher that already hasn’t been said? Well, we first should mention that she’s begun her local residency in a production called “Classic Cher” at MGM National Harbor, where she will play Thursday, March 23, Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, before returning for six more dates at the end of summer.

“This is our last song. You know what it is.” As the heady notes of “Sweet Disposition” reached the dancing part of our brains, everyone at the crowded 9:30 Club not moving suddenly found invigorating purpose. Dougy Mandagi, lead singer of The Temper Trap, brought the dancing throngs to an epic finish for their show on October 6th. “A moment of love, a dream, a laugh, a kiss, a cry.”

Don’t Miss: The Temper Trap @ 9:30 Club, 10/6/16

The Temper Trap broke out in a big way in 2009 with their epiphanic dance single, “Sweet Disposition”. Back when DC9 held their weekly Liberation Dance Party, this song was among the standouts on rotation.

After picking up their first album, Conditions, I was more than ready to see them live at the 2010 Lollapalooza in Chicago. I walked away feeling pretty good (and then went to see The National and Soundgarden, so the feeling continued for some time…)

Sadly, that’s the only time I’ve seen them live. Let’s rectify that.

The Temper Trap, an indie rock band, comes to the 9:30 Club on Thursday, October 6th. Tickets are still available, so get yours here.

They released their third album, Thick as Thieves, back in June. Four years after their last album – where have you been, guys?

We’re glad they’re back. Their first single, “Fall Together”, is an anthemic track that will also get you back on the dance floor in a heartbeat.

This is a show you shouldn’t miss!

Don’t Miss: Electric Six @ Black Cat — 10/2/16

Detroit dance funk band Electric Six are celebrating Halloween in October with the release of a new album — Fresh Blood for Tired Vampyres, out Oct. 7 via Metropolis Records!

Electric Six frontman Dick Valentine sure seems like he’s going to live forever given the way his band knocks out a new album every year. And with this new album, Dick and company have strived to group all of their past lives in one place by combining electropop, R&B, dance and more genres into one album.

And with the new album comes a tour! Electric Six return to the Black Cat this Sunday, Oct. 2!

Listen to “I’ll Be in Touch” from the new album by Electric Six via YouTube:

Fresh Blood for Tired Vampyres covers a lot of ground from the Grandmaster Flash-inspired “Number of the Beast” to the smooth tour of the NYC outer boroughs “Mood Is Improving” as well as radio-ready pop tracks “Dance with Dark Forces” and “I’ll Be in Touch.”

And never fear! The Electric Six have long memories, and after 12 albums they still remember how much everyone loves their 2003 debut, so we may well hear “Dance Commander” or “Danger! High Voltage” or “Gay Bar” also!

Tickets are available online.
