I had the great honor of covering Kali Uchis and Jorja Smith last year in 2018 (check those posts out by clicking on the artists’ names). When it was announced that they would tour jointly together, I thought ” What a perfect pair!” Luckily, the tour started in Kali’s hometown recently, and we were in for a treat from both ladies in a sold-out show at The Anthem.

Editor’s Note: This year, we asked our bloggers to name their Top 10 shows of 2018 or choose their Top 10 photos of the year. We will run them over the course of mid-December as our Best of the Year posts.
The year 2018 brought me great experiences. As my first year of photoblogging comes to an end, I had the great pleasure of attending some amazing shows in DC. I want to give a huge thanks to Parklife DC for entrusting me and giving me that opportunity. I will forever be eternally grateful! Here are my Top 10 concerts of 2018.

Kali Uchis played two nights at the 9:30 Club this week. Originally from Northern Virginia, Kali moved to LA after high school to pursue her career. She mentioned to the crowd that her first concert ever attended was at the 9:30 Club. So, her journey in the music came full circle this week as she sold out the club on Tuesday night.

Kali Uchis released her debut album, Isolation, in April via Interscope Records. The native of Alexandria, Virginia, has been winning the hearts of critics, and she performs for two nights at 9:30 Club soon! The first night is sold out, but you can still buy tickets for the second night, Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Radiating Selena-esque vibes, Kali Uchis recently took to the stage at Rams Head Live, and she started her show with “Speed,” “Rush,” and my personal favorite “Nuestra Planeta” (which translates to “Our Planet” in English). She blends soul/psychedelic with reggaeton vibes and adds a sprinkle of pop. Her voice can perfectly blend all those genres and she makes it work.
