Acoustic guitar pioneer Leo Kottke and Phish bassist Mike Gordon have announced plans for an eagerly awaited series of live dates. The brief tour, which marks the duo’s first live run together in more than 16 years, brings them to Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in DC on Thursday, Dec. 9.

The pandemic and the impacts of COVID have been seen across the music industry since it began and especially hard hit has been the live music segment, with it being a challenge for both touring acts and venues to get all this right in an uncertain environment.
Maybe nowhere has that been more obvious lately than the Trey Anastasio Band tour, an outfit that, just a few weeks ago, would have looked entirely different. Then came a couple positive tests, and trumpet player Jen Hartswick and drummer Russ Lawton were sidelined, putting the back half of the tour in jeopardy.

American jam band Phish performed to the utter delight of a stupified sold-out crowd at Merriweather Post Pavilion recently, and I was there taking photos and spacing-out to the music and getting into the groove.

Phish hit the road for the summer on a 26-date tour that culminates with the band’s traditional Labor Day run of shows in Commerce City, Colorodo. Along the way, guitarist Trey Anastasio and company stop at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, June 22, and there are very few seats remaining!

Phish fans were jubilant recently as Trey Anastasio made a weekend stop at DC’s The Anthem to unveil a new band, Ghosts of the Forest, and a forthcoming album by the same name. The sold-out performance was the third stop on a short nine-show April run for the Phish frontman’s newest side-project.

In his solo album Traveler, released in 2012 and co-produced with Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jónsi), Trey Anastasio imagines a convergence of the many roads he has taken in his remarkable musical career. That convergence was on display Valentine’s Day evening at Sixth & I, where the frontman for Phish took the stage for a solo acoustic performance in a sold-out show.
