Local folk/Americana artist Eli Lev recently put in a performance at DC’s DC9 Nightclub. The Silver Spring, Maryland native, fresh off a three-week European tour that included stops in France, Spain, and Andorra, played the opening set for Hannah Jaye and the Hideaways who were hosting their debut album release party.

Hard rockers Skillet released Victorious, the band’s 10th studio album, last year via Atlantic Records. The hard-touring band performs at The Fillmore Silver Spring on Sunday, March 8, and drummer Jen Ledger opens the show with her own project, Ledger.

Folk legend Arlo Guthrie celebrated a lifetime of music at The Birchmere on a recent evening billed as a commemoration of his debut 1967 album, Alice’s Restaurant. His set featured the titular “Alice’s Restaurant,” a 20-minute-or-so story song that involves litter, jail, and the draft. “If I could’ve imagined that song would be popular,” Arlo told the audience, “I would have made it a hell of a lot shorter.

Parklife DC is sad to learn the Rock and Roll Hotel, a pioneer in the redevelopment of DC’s Atlas District, has closed its doors forever immediately, starting today.

You might expect that Drive-By Truckers frontment Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, who are known for taking outspoken, forceful positions, would have a lot to say on stage.
