Methyl Ethel have been taking Australia by storm with the catchy dreampop on their sophomore album Everything Is Forgotten, released last month via 4AD. The band is charging across the world for a US tour, and they will land at DC9 on Saturday, April 22.

As you may have heard, Chain and the Gang, the rock ‘n’ roll outfit fronted by the irrepressible Ian Svenonius, have returned! They hit Australia and New Zealand for a tour last month. But you may not have yet heard that Chain and the Gang today announced a new album, Best of Crime Rock, due out June 2 via In the Red Records.

The fascinating thing about hitting pop stardom in 1980 when you’re aged 13 — like Annabella Lwin, former lead singer of Bow Wow Wow — is that some 37 years later you might still have energy and creativity yet to tour anew. In the case of Annabella, Baltimore receives a treat when she appears on the bill of the Retro Futura Tour, replacing Paul Young on one of the dates for the traveling ’80s festival, on Sunday, July 30.

Austin psychedelic rockers The Black Angels are set to release a fifth full-length album, Death Song, via Partisan Records on April 21, and they stop at 9:30 Club on Sunday, April 30 to promote it. You can win tickets to go!

The Menzingers zipped into a sold-out show at Rock and Roll Hotel recently in the wake of the release of their fifth studio album, After the Party, their third on Epitaph Records.
