For the first time in history, the legendary U2 are dedicating an entire tour to one of their albums. In this case, the band will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their fifth studio album, The Joshua Tree.
U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 launches in North American on May 12, and it will arrive in DC for a performance at FedEx Field on Tuesday, June 20. All North American dates go on sale to the public at 10am local time today, Jan. 17. (European dates went on sale yesterday and sold out completely.)

It’s been nearly six years since a new solo album from DC R&B superstar Ginuwine. He’s been slowly working on an eighth studio album, tentatively known as “Same Ol’ G…the Bachelor,” referring both to the title of his debut album and his recent divorce.
While Ginuwine may not yet have a new album, he’s certainly been busy, and he’s putting up a concert performance at The Howard Theatre on Friday, Jan. 27.

The Band performed its farewell show on Nov. 25, 1976, at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, and company had worked with Bob Dylan, and Dylan and other special guests appeared during that final concert to jam along with The Band.

Book of Love released the first of four albums in 1986, and the New York City quartet continued making music through 1994. After initially disbanding, the synthpoppers have reunited occasionally to play their romantically melodic dance songs, and they reunited again last year.
However, when touring these days, vocalist Susan Ottaviano and synthesizer player Ted Ottaviano (no relation) often perform as a duo without their bandmates Lauren Roselli Johnson and Jade Lee. And as a duo, Susan and Ted will return as Book of Love to DC for the first time in many years to perform at U Street Music Hall on Saturday, Feb. 11.
David Bowie (Photo by Jimmy King)
He was the first modern pop musician to embrace reinvention, moving deftly across genres and lending his incredible voice to glam, soul, new wave, and industrial.
David Bowie would have turned 70 on Sunday. He passed away a year ago yesterday. In DC this week, various events have celebrated his life and legacy. We’ll continue that celebration tomorrow night at Dodge City with a monthly edition of our DJ party, Careless Memories: Happy Birthday, David Bowie.
Dave Wakeling and The English Beat have been no strangers to DC, last performing at the 9:30 Club to open for Squeeze last fall. The band next return to the 9:30 Club on Wednesday, March 1, to provide a proper headlining set.
