I’m going to say it right out of the gate — Clan of Xymox deserve to be a much bigger act than they are.
As seen at DC’s Union Stage recently, frontman Ronny Moorings and company walk a straight line through buoyant synthpop — a bit more dark and distracted than their contemporaries in New Order and a bit less complicated than The Cure.

Dutch dark wavers Clan of Xymox haven’t been to DC in a while, but that’s about to change as frontman Ronny Moorings and his crew hit Union Stage for an exciting show on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Dutch symphonic metal collective Within Temptation released Resist, the band’s seventh studio album, on Feb. 1, and their accompanying tour of the United States takes them to Rams Head Live on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Clan of Xymox released Days of Black via Metropolis Records in 2017, and Ronny Moorings and company hit Ottobar on Nov. 1 on the US Days of Black Tour. Jason Nicholson shot the show.

Candy Dulfer was a former member of The New Power Generation, Prince’s backing band, but the Dutch saxophonist had a solo career before officially joining the band. She released Together, her most recent album, last year, and she dropped by The Birchmere to play new songs, old songs, and cover songs recently.

Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer released Together, her most recent solo album, in 2017, and followed that up with an autobiography, Sax, Candy & Rock-’n’-Roll (in Dutch only, but with an English version expected soon). Candy, who also was a frequent collaborator of Prince, will perform at The Birchmere on Thursday, Oct. 18.
