Detective novel author, would-be politician, Jewish country singer, and iconoclast Kinky Friedman, touring behind his first album of new material in four decades, made an appearance as only he can at DC’s City Winery on Monday.

Legendary neo-pscyh outfit Echo & The Bunnymen recently signed to BMG. The group will release The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon, an album featuring re-recordings of 13 Bunnymen classics as well as two new songs, on Oct. 5. Meanwhile, they currently have teamed with the Violent Femmes for a 11-date summer tour that concludes at The Anthem in DC on Wednesday, July 25.

Devon Allman, a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter, and record producer, is the son of musician Gregg Allman. Devon appeared occasionally as a guest musician for Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band, and he also maintains a solo career. He performs with The Devon Allman Project at The Hamilton Live on Friday, July 13.

Blues rock group the Tedeschi Trucks Band last year released Life from the Fox Oakland, their second live album, via Fantasy Records. And speaking of playing live, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks bring their namesake band to Wolf Trap on Wednesday, July 11 for their Wheels of Soul Tour with Drive-By Truckers and The Marcus King Band.
