Steel Panther launch a tour today in their hometown of Los Angeles, leading up to the release of their fourth studio album, Lower the Bar, on March 24 via Steel Panther Inc. The humorous glam metal quartet will play somewhat locally at The National in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday, April 17.

UK garage punk rockers Slaves released their second album Take Control last fall via Virgin EMI, and they are hitting the United States for a tour that includes DC9 on Wednesday, March 8.

Dave Wakeling arrived in DC Wednesday in good spirits. With a mischievous grin and a boisterous attitude, Dave and his band in The English Beat appeared at 9:30 Club to enthrall a very full house with Dave’s time-tested ska, reggae, and new wave hits, which had the whole room skanking.

Last fall, Sting released his 12th solo album, 57th & 9th, via A&M/Interscope Records. Currently, Sting is on a tour to celebrate the occasion, and he will perform locally at MGM National Harbor on Sunday, March 12.

Blake Miller of Moving Units brought his post-punk outfit Moving Units to DC9 on Wednesday to play the songs of Joy Division. And it was glorious.

Thrash metal men Overkill are still going strong, releasing their 18th studio album, The Grinding Wheel, on Feb. 10 via Nuclear Blast and eOne Music. They are touring in support of it with a show at The Howard Theatre on Wednesday, March 8.

Don’t Miss: Spoon @ Merriweather Post Pavilion, 7/30/17

In a few short weeks, Spoon will find themselves in a three-night residency at SXSW, and then the very next day they will release their new album Hot Thoughts on Matador Records. Spoon will then continue a tour that will eventually land them at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, on Sunday, July 30.
