As soon as I walked into the 9:30 Club, I knew that it was going to be a good night. The crowd was living for Kari Faux (opening DJ) and it was a sold-out show. She warmed up the crowd to an incredible night for Steve Lacy and his fans.

The Internet downloaded into The Fillmore Silver Spring for two nights of funky music on the Hive Mind Tour earlier this week, and Chris Castillo caught the jam-packed action on the first night.

The Internet released Hive Mind, the band’s fourth studio record, on Columbia Records over the summer. The quintet are on the Hive Mind Tour, which visits The Fillmore Silver Spring on Monday, Dec. 3. (A second show on Tuesday, Dec. 4, is sold out!)

The weather is becoming more unpredictable each year, but our music festival calendars will never steer us wrong. The arrival of Coachella tells us Spring has sprung, and Firefly signals Summer. This year, the first day of fall was marked by the triumphant return of the Trillectro Music Festival.

Syd (aka Syd Tha Kid), frontwoman and producer for The Internet, released EP Always Never Home on Sept. 7 via Columbia Records. On Tuesday, she visited The Fillmore Silver Spring to play an engaging show, and Chris Castillo was there to take some pix. (By the way, Syd is at Baltimore Soundstage tonight. Go see that show!)
