Eric Whitney, better known as Ghostemane, released N/O/I/S/E, a full-length album influenced by acts like Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. He followed that up with an EP, Opium, this year, and now he performs at U Street Music Hall on Wednesday, June 19.

Concerned with climate change, Corin Tucker took to side project Filthy Friends to say things that she couldn’t say in Sleater-Kinney. Playing songs from the resulting album Emerald Valley lately, Corin and REM guitarist Peter Buck drew a sizable crowd of the devout and the curious at U Street Music Hall recently.

Glitter-adorned indie punk rock quartet Tacocat lit up U Street Music Hall recently for a bevy of fans that may have been the only people in the city not glued to their TVs for the Game of Thrones series finale.

Filthy Friends released their second full-length album, Emerald Valley, recently via Kill Rock Stars. The indie rock supergroup consists of Sleater-Kinney co-founder Corin Tucker, REM guitarist Peter Buck and rockers Scott McCaughey and Kurt Bloch. See them at U Street Music Hall on Monday, May 20.

The Twilight Sad made a brief appearance at U Street Music Hall recently, but the post-punk quintet, fronted by James Graham, stopped the show sort when the vocalist was too ill to continue.

The Dream Syndicate played often at the original 9:30 Club in the ‘80s, a memory that prompted frontman Steve Wynn to call the outfit “the house band” for a time. On Friday, Steve was pleased to find himself back in DC with a 9:30 Club Production with his finely tuned and reformed band.

From their beginning in a Los Angeles basement in 1981, The Dream Syndicate’s neo-psychedelic sound has been wildly influential in the indie-rock scene and most notably the Paisley Underground. The band will perform at U Street Music Hall on Friday, May 10, in support of their sixth studio album, These Times (which drops *this* Friday via Anti-Records).
