Thrash metal overlords GWAR sieged Rams Head Live as the command center for the band’s Use Your Collusion Tour recently. Katherine Gaines got pictures of all of the guts and glory you would expect from a heavy metal “alien invasion.”

Snoop Dogg, known to his friends as Calvin Broadus Jr. (well, they call him Snoop too actually), visited Jiffy Lube Live to mark the 25th anniversary of his debut studio album, Doggystyle. Chris Castillo of Parklife DC went along to take some pictures!

Rick Wakeman’s Grumpy Old Rock Star tour featured a man who is anything but. Rather, we got a wonderfully intimate, hilarious, and jaw-dropping performance from the former Strawbs, on-again off-again YES, and unparalleled session keyboardist recently at The Birchmere. Not a grumpy soul in the room, least of all Mr. Wakeman himself.

Daniel Caesar’s Case Study 01: Tour breezed through a sold-out Echostage recently with up and coming Reggae artist Koffee warming up the crowd. Daniel and his band performed songs from his newest album also titled “Case Study 01” that released at the top of the summer.

The Yardbirds — the band that spearheaded the British Blues Boom of the ’60s, the band that brought the world Eric Clapton in 1963, Jeff Beck in 1965 and Jimmy Page in 1966 (who played in the band with Beck for four months) — will perform at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Daniel Graves took his industrial pop outfit Aesthetic Perfection to the Pie Shop for a sold-out performance recently, and he put on one hell of a performance.

Stuart Goddard, who is responsible for 22 hit singles as Adam Ant, mugged, danced, and chatted his way through a lengthy show with an adoring audience at the Lincoln Theatre recently.

During the show, Adam Ant performed Friend or Foe, his debut solo album (but his fourth studio record overall), live in its entirety for the first time in DC, giving an earnest glam treatment to long-time favorites like “Goody Two Shoes,” “Desperate But Not Serious,” and “Friend or Foe.”

Kero Kero Bonito, the London-based bilingual art-pop band, recently dropped a surprise EP, titled Civilisation I. The songs are the band’s most ambitious work to date and were written, produced and recorded in the bedroom of KKB’s Gus Lobban. Singer-songwriter Charlie Parr released an eponymous new album, a collection of new songs and new studio versions of classics and audience favorites from throughout his career on Sept. 27 via Red House Records. He’s been touring his personal brand of folk blues, and he makes another stop at Black Cat on Wednesday, Oct. 9, to play his songs.

Sarah Pinsker’s Nebula and Sturgeon Award-winning short fiction has appeared in Asimov’s, F&SF, Uncanny, and Strange Horizons, as well as numerous other magazines, anthologies, year’s bests, podcasts, and translation markets. She is also a singer/songwriter who has toured nationally behind three albums on various independent labels. Her first literary collection, Sooner or Later Everything Falls into the Sea, was released in early 2019 by Small Beer Press.
