Singer-songwriter Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams performed together in Levon Helm’s band. The duo teamed up for an eponymous album in 2015, and they did it again with a new record, Contraband Love, released last year via Red House Records. Larry and Teresa will play at Gypsy Sally’s on Thursday, Sept. 20.

If Hank Williams were alive today, he’d be 94 years old. It’s unlikely he’d still be making music, and, even if he were, he probably wouldn’t sound very much like the young Hank Williams. On Wednesday evening, the closest you could get to a vintage Hank Williams show was seeing Wayne “The Train” Hancock perform his style of traditional country at DC’s City Winery.

Don’t look now, but Miguel had himself a hell of a summer. Primetime slots on a number of festivals this summer — D.C.’s own Broccoli Fest, Coachella, Made in America, Afropunk, and this coming weekend’s Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh, North Carolina. In between all of that he made a stop at The Anthem earlier this week, bringing his electric live show to a rapt audience that crossed all osrts of gender and cultural boundaries.

Lost ‘80s Live, the long-running traveling retro music festival, celebrates 15 years in 2018. Lost ‘80s Live is coming to DC on Friday, Sept. 21, with a show at Warner Theatre that includes A Flock of Seagulls, Wang Chung, Annabella Lwin of Bow Wow Wow, Farrington and Mann (the original vocalists of When in Rome), Naked Eyes, Animotion, and Gene Loves Jezebel.

In September 1993, a magical thing happened! Seminal indie rock club Black Cat first opened its doors. The Black Cat will celebrate 25 years of hosting many of the best concerts in DC with two evenings packed full of performances by the likes of Ted Leo, Algiers, Ex Hex, and of course Gray Matter on Friday, Sept. 14, and Saturday, Sept. 15.
