Sept. 25 Update: Sadly, Lord of the Lost announced today that they experienced overwhelming difficulties in obtaining US visas for the tour, so they have canceled.

Dark metal group Lord of the Lost will release Swan Songs II, a new album of 10 songs, via Napalm Records on Oct. 6. The band will be on tour leading up to the release of the album with a show opening for legendary German industrial collective KMFDM on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia. Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions released Son of a Lady, their new EP, via Tendril Tales on Sept. 15. The band, consisting of Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star and Colm Ó Cíosóig of My Bloody Valentine, are touring with a date at 9:30 Club on Thursday, Oct. 19.

On Oct. 6, legendary Australian psych rockers The Church will release their 26th studio album, Man Woman Life Death Infinity, via Unorthodox Recordings. To mark the occasion, The Church embarked on a 29-date North American Tour, and frontman Steve Kilbey and company will perform at 9:30 Club on Sunday, Oct. 1. Canadian DJ/producer REZZ, born Isabelle Rezazadeh, is on her Mass Manipulation Tour, which visits Echostage in DC on Saturday, Sept. 30. The tour follows the release of Mass Manipulation, her debut album, on Aug. 4 via mau5trap Recordings (deadmau5’s label).

The Mynabirds, the soulful pop solo project of Laura Burhenn, released Be Here Now, a fourth studio album, via Saddle Creek on Aug. 25. Laura actually released the songs on the album as three EPs prior to collecting them on one record in order to transfer the urgency of the protest music she was making at the time. The Mynabirds now are on tour, and Laura performs at DC9 on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

A$AP Mob released Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy, their second studio album, on Aug. 25 via A$AP Worldwide, Polo Grounds Music, and RCA Records. The New York rap collective rarely perform together in one space, but A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Twelvyy, and others have joined forces for the sweeping Too Cozy Tour to play their new songs with a stop at Echostage on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Eleven minutes and thirty-eight seconds.

That’s how long it took before a member of the rap rock supergroup Prophets of Rage mentioned the President, first numerically (“45” — not four-five, which would be South African slang for male genitalia according to Johannesburg-born comedian and Daily Show host Trevor Noah), and then by last name and the acronym POTUS. Rap legend Chuck D muttered the surname and it was clear that the call to action against and the critiques of the current White House occupant weren’t going to end there.
