Noel Gallagher, forever famous as one half of Oasis, has been doing terrific work with his newer band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The band released Who Built the Moon?, their third studio album, in November through Noel’s Sour Mash Records. Now on a US tour, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds perform at The Anthem in DC tonight, Feb. 12.

Melanie Fiona Hallim, better known simply as Melanie Fiona, will soon release Next Train, her third studio album, and she’s on tour after releasing a single, “Remember U.” The R&B soprano performs at The Howard Theatre on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

In 2015, vocalist Arrow de Wilde meet guitarist Henri Cash in high school and formed a band—Starcrawler! Weeks ago, Starcrawler released its self-titled debut album via Rough Trade Records. Now, they are coming to DC9 on their first headlining tour for a show on Feb. 17.

Last month, I reviewed a terrific live show by The Wombats at 9:30 Club. The show sold out in a heartbeat, the band were enthused, the audience went nuts—it was a good time.

But I wouldn’t even know who The Wombats were if I hadn’t first heard them at Liberation Dance Party at DC9.

Based out of Detroit, Flint Eastwood frontwoman Jax Anderson showed off her skills and how to command a stage. She made sure that she had everyone’s attention during her show.
