David Eugene Edwards is the creative force behind Wovenhand. After making his mark with the gothic sounding, alt-country band Sixteen Horsepower, David originally recorded his own solo work under the Wovenhand moniker. This has given him the opportunity to explore a variety of musical styles, but they are all connected by his inherent intensity.

His trademark fire and brimstone delivery was apparent in a recent show at Black Cat.

Of Montreal appeared at 9:30 Club recently for a different kind of show. You see, frontman Kevin Barnes fell in love. And with that, he’s been a bit more carefree, a bit more open, and a bit more himself. That inner self shined brightly at 9:30 Club, and Katherine Gaines captured this glory on film.

Class is in session! Welcome to the No Rules Tour, led by Memphis OG Young Dolph and his cousin-slash-protégé Key Glock. A trap-rap classroom that teaches us how to stay down for the homies, never forget where you came from, ask for forgiveness instead of permission, and above all else, KEEP IT REAL!

Almost a year removed from their 2019 street-certified surprise collaboration Dum & Dummer, a project inundated with gritty punchlines and witty banter over 22 tracks, the two Ten-a-key (Tennessee) rappers enthusiastically embarked on a nationwide tour with a stop here in the DMV recently at The Fillmore Silver Spring.

What’s the best way to pay respects to a friend who left too early? There’s probably no perfect answer to that question, but it’s an admirable deed to carry out the last known wishes of a beloved one you’ve lost.

That’s the density of the mission that recently brought Circles Around the Sun to Baltimore for a performance at The 8×10 to kick off the band’s first multi-state tour since the death of the group’s shepherd, Neal Casal.

Will Oldham, aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy, released I Made a Place, his latest studio album, last November via Drag City. He made the album with his wife while they were artists in residence in Hawaii, and the results are engrossing but also amazingly tranquil.

Bonnie “Prince” Billy performs with Jonathan Richman at the Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, March 7. Prior to the show, Parklife DC’s Mickey McCarter chatted with Will about making the record and touring with Jonathan.
