Jon Spencer recently released his debut solo album, Spencer Sings The Hits!, via In The Red Records. He’s bringing his solo show to the Black Cat as Jon Spencer and The Hitmakers on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Coming from one of America’s great musical cities, Austin, Texas, The Band of Heathens played on New Year’s Eve at Hill Country BBQ. Formed in 2008, the BoH mixes Americana influences with roots rock. On their most recent project, A Message from the People Revisited, they journey into soul, gospel, and R&B.

David Wax Museum brought the band’s border-crossing, world-spiced Mexo-Americana party to the Union Stage in DC with barely 24 hours left in the year. The core (and married) duo of David Wax and Suz Slezak took to the stage with percussionist/ trumpeter Danilo Henriquez and bassist Ben Kogan, warming the audience on this December night, smiles beaming like spring flowers around the whole club, stage to bar.

After a performance at the 52nd Annual CMA Awards in November, he’s coming around to The Birchmere for a show on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. (He’s also there on Saturday, Jan. 12, and that show has sold out.)
