Legendary post-hardcore band Jawbox reunited earlier this year, announcing a 12-date summer tour. Jawbox sold out a first night at 9:30 Club, so the band added a second hometown show on Saturday, June 29.

Refashioned post-punk quartet Priests really grooved to their appealing new songs at 9:30 Club recently in front of a very crowded hometown audience. In a very welcome development for a rapidly maturing band, the new songs proved the most fascinating in live performance.

One of The Birchmere’s charms is that you can really see the relationships artists have with their fans. Most artists interact with the audience; some have relationships with their fans. When Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes played The Birchmere recently, the rhythm was plenty blue, and the rock had lots of roll, but it was the relationship between the band’s charismatic frontman and the audience that made night special.

The crowd wanted to blow off steam and listen to some fun music, and the boys of Time Sawyer obliged in their recent debut headlining show at Hill Country. Even playing a murder ballad, the band kept it light and made it a good time.
